about services online quote order

I worked in the transportation business for sixteen years before founding Entertainment Transportation Network in 1991.  By then I had worked in everything from sales to management with companies like Bekins, Mayflower and North American Van Lines.  But I was eager to embark on my own journey and haven't looked back since.

The transportation business, especially the area I work in, is all about service and it is very personal for me.  Each of my clients is unique, with very specialized requirements and I have had the privilege of working with most for as many as fifteen years.

To me, bigger is not necessarily better.  It's just bigger. And more expensive. From day one, I've worked to provide high-quality, individualized service to a small group of clients, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. By keeping my operation small, and operating costs low, I'm able to offer competitive rates and unparalleled service.

At most trucking companies and large truck brokers, the staff goes home in the evening and on weekends, leaving after-hours duties to an answering service or an on-call person who may not understand your requirements.  It's just not enough to read the order from a file on a computer.

Technology has been a help, but this is still a business that requires individual commitment and attention to detail.  My clients can reach me any time, day or night, and speak to the person directly handling their shipment. So can the drivers assigned to my shipments.

In the end, it all comes down to commitment, dedication and that old-fashioned thing known as service.

A BRIEF HISTORY  (top of page)

ETN was founded in 1991with authority from the Interstate Commerce Commission to operate as a licensed property broker. Beginning with a small group of clients, ETN quickly gained a reputation as a reliable source of transportation services. The Hollywood studios began to take notice in 1992 and transportation departments saw this type of service as a way to save money and make their jobs easier at the same time. Ice Capades also signed ETN to handle its domestic ice show tours.

By 1994, we had caught the attention of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Combined Shows, the owners of Ice Follies/Holiday on Ice and the Walt Disney's World on Ice shows. ETN was called upon to handle much of their support equipment as well as move the touring shows themselves.

Today, in addition to handling the transportation needs of other touring shows such as Sesame Street Live and the Big Apple Circus, we also work with a wide variety of feature film and television productions, carnivals, carnival ride manufacturers and engineering clients.

WHO ETN SERVES  (top of page)

There is no "typical" ETN client.  However, as our name suggests, we concentrate in the area of entertainment, in three broad categories.  This includes handling the transportation needs of touring shows such as Sesame Street Live and Big Apple Circus as well as other theatrical, musical clients and some from the world of sports.  A significant portion of our business also comes from feature film and television production - major studios as well as independents.  And thirdly, we have also worked with a wide variety of carnivals and carnival ride manufacturers.

Outside of our entertainment clientele, ETN also serves a number of engineering clients in need of comprehensive, time-sensitive service with 24-hour support.

EXPERIENCE  (top of page)

ETN has handled over 10,000 shipments, delivering everything from sound, lighting, grip and wardrobe trailers to huge sets, mockups, vehicles and aircraft.

To date, ETN has served well over 250 film and television productions.  We also help plan and coordinate entire tours throughout the United States and Canada, working with a broad range of other clients in need of the specialized attention that entertainment projects require.

Major touring shows such as Ice Capades, Walt Disney's World on Ice, Big Apple Circus, Sesame Street Live and many others have used ETN to transfer their shows.  Outdoor amusement industry clients have relied on ETN to deliver their rides, equipment, concessions and supplies safely and on time while they are on tour.  Ride manufacturers use us to transport their newest rides to their clients.

A sampling of the projects we have been involved with:

"From the Earth to the Moon"

ETN was extensively involved in this the landmark 12-episode HBO series, transferring this capsule as well as many other historical items such as a lunar lander, loading gantries, training modules and other items from warehouses and museums all over the country.  We also moved sets, props, grip, electric, construction, lighting, camera and other gear.  Our services included both standard-specification moves and a large number of oversized, permitted loads requiring specialized handling, routing and traffic control.

Movement of set walls for feature film and television productions

It's one thing to move set walls between studios in sunny California and quite another when they have to be transported to a distant location.  ETN handled six loads of set walls prepared in Los Angeles for transit to Washington DC, and the filming of "The Hollow Man".  Using designs suggested by ETN, these were moved across the country without incident.  Similar services were provided when the television production "Spin City" relocated from New York City to Los Angeles.

The Big Apple Circus

This non-profit organization, based in New York City, is known for its excellent, intimate approach to circus performing as well as its outreach programs in schools, hospitals and communities. ETN handles their entire U.S. tour, hauling everything from sleeper units and a mobile school house to the bigtop itself.  We are involved in the planning and execution of moves of as many as 35 units at a time, all choreographed to a precise schedule.  When the Big Apple Circus moves, we don't get much sleep, but we have a lot of fun working with this premier group of entertainers that celebrates their 34th anniversary this year.

Sesame Street Live

When Big Bird and company go on the road to entertain families across the nation, they turn to ETN to get them there.  With close coordination with each show and 24 hour availability, ETN provides complete services for all facets of moving these fun shows.

Outdoor amusements and ride manufacturers

Throughout the United States, hundreds of carnival operators of all sizes move their shows between cities.  ETN is proud to have worked with some of the best, moving everything from ferris wheels and Gravitrons to bumper cars, concession stands and power units.  We also support several of the manufacturers and resellers of these rides.  With tighter transportation regulations and increased enforcement, the outdoor amusement industry can count on ETN for qualified, professional drivers already in DOT compliance.

MOVIES I'VE WORKED ON  (top of page)

Since the very beginning, ETN has worked closely and extensively with the film and television industry - from small independent productions to large studio projects. With over 250 productions on our resume, we have been fortunate to move everything from basic production equipment to exotic props and scenery.  It would be impossible to list everything we have done, but ETN has consistently provided services for all types of equipment moves, including:

Camera, lighting and supply trailers

Carrier-provided equipment trailers
